Canadian athlete Alysha Newman — who went viral for her celebratory twerking at the Paris Olympics — has gained thousands of OnlyFans subscribers since then.

Newman, who was born in London, Ont., won a bronze medal in women’s pole vaulting at this year’s Games. She gained global attention with her dance moves after she won the medal, which was a first in Canadian women’s pole vaulting.

Newman’s OnlyFans account page crashed due to getting 20,000 new subscribers and counting, she told U.K. publication Daily Mail. Her Instagram account also received an influx of followers — around 200,000.

“It’s quite insane,” she said.

“My whole team, we had to get on a phone call because … the (OnlyFans) website was crashing because of how many people actually came on.”

She said she started her OnlyFans account after the isolation of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 — and the amount of money she’s made since has been life-changing. While Canada covered the cost of her room and board at the this year’s Olympic Games in Paris, she was able to pay for her coaches to join her.

She was also able to turn her home into a “wellness house,” which helped her with training.

“I bought a barrel sauna. I bought a cold plunge. I bought a hot tub and a hyperbaric chamber,” she told Daily Mail.

As for the some of the recent content featured on her OnlyFans account, she said she shared pictures of her bronze medal and accompanying boxes to put it in from Louis Vuitton and Nike, respectively.

“People were so stoked to be able to be that up close with a medal … be the first people to see it,” she said.

Newman has also used the money earned from OnlyFans to buy property and build up her savings, the Associated Press reported.

“I never loved how amateur athletes can never make a lot of money,” she said.

“This is where my entrepreneurial skills came in.”

Newman told the Daily Mail that while she is aware of the stigma associated with OnlyFans, she has “faith in the company and where it’s going.”

The U.K. publication calculated that Newman grossed at least $155,800 solely from her new subscribers.

Newman said she does not have plans to quit OnlyFans any time soon.
