CHOW’S SPENDING HABIT
Re “Good value for money” (Brad Bradford, Aug. 15): Olivia Chow complained that the city was in a financial mess when she became mayor. She then proceeded to implement a heavy property tax on the homeowners of Toronto. She then wasted millions changing the name of Yonge-Dundas Square. Now she wants to spend $150 million to put in a short length of bicycle track. Next thing you know she will be claiming the city is cash poor again and will implement another huge property tax increase. I hope the people who pay rent to live in our fair city fully appreciate that the reason their rents have skyrocketed is entirely due to a spendthrift mayor and her left-wing allies on the city council. You got what you voted for.

(Another property tax increase will be coming. Torontonians needs to pay attention to what Chow is doing and how irresponsibly our money is being spent)

FAREWELL CHML
Re “Hamilton’s beloved 900 CHML radio goes silent without notice” (Joe Warmington, Aug. 14): This column outlines how I feel about the loss of 900 CHML as one of those who have listened since growing up for local news, weather and traffic. I am beyond appalled. Thank you for such a great outline of our feelings. Fingers crossed that there may be a local station out there able to step up. This has shown how many residents support CHML.

THE LIBERALS’ CANADA
Canadians have been taught by the Liberal government to roll over and behave at the slightest provocation. Let me get this straight: The government who is supposed to be responsible to the people, and to whom we pay our taxes, refuses to give us information about a Crown corporation’s civil servant whose salary we pay. We accept these slights ad nauseam. When are we going to be a country again instead of spineless sycophants?

(The only thing that will change this is an election and a Conservative government)
