Former Everton star Francis Jeffers believes Anthony Gordon wouldn’t be tarnishing his legacy at Goodison Park if he ends up moving to Liverpool.
The 23-year-old was tipped to leave Newcastle for Anfield earlier this summer, with transfer talk since going cold.
Gordon is set to play a big part under Eddie Howe as the Toon look to secure European football next term.
The England international sparkled for Newcastle last season, scoring 11 goals and clocking up 10 assists from 35 Premier League appearances.

Jeffers, speaking exclusively to GB News via William Hill Vegas, believes Gordon wouldn’t be tarnishing his Everton legacy if he moves to their fiercest rivals.
And that’s because he doesn’t have one in the first place.
Jeffers said: “I don’t think he had a legacy at Everton.

“He was a very good young player who came through the academy and has helped Everton financially.
“Many fans don’t have him as their favourite player now, so moving to Liverpool won’t change that either way.”
Everton have struggled in recent years, only to end up narrowly avoiding relegation.
They had to battle with points deductions last term, with Sean Dyche still able to keep them up.
And Jeffers believes Dyche is capable of steering Everton up the table as they look to improve on last season’s 15th-placed finish.
“Yes I can. I like Sean Dyce and the job he is doing,” he said when asked if he can see the 53-year-old working wonders once again.

“He is very experienced in the Premier League and can get the team playing so they compete well with the bottom half teams in the Premier League and getting enough points to not having a nervy time at the end of the season.
“I think they have a manager and a squad which are capable of staying in the Premier League.
“I am confident they can survive this coming season, hoping as well there are no more points deducted.

“Sean Dyche is a top manager and they have a workman-like side who can grind out results.”
Everton face Brighton in their Premier League opener on Saturday (3pm).
The same fixture ended in a 1-1 draw last November, with Ashley Young’s own goal earning a point for Brighton following an early opener from Vitali Mykolenko.
Everton drew 1-1 with Brighton at the Amex in February, with Lewis Dunk scoring late to cancel out Jarrad Branthwaite’s goal in the 73rd minute.
