Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has praised the success rates of this year’s A Level results, as students across the country secured their places at university.

Speaking to media, Phillipson said: “It’s been fantastic to join with young people today collecting their results and to celebrate their amazing success. They’ve shown enormous resilience in the face of lots of disruption, and it’s a really important day for them. But I also want to pay tribute to the amazing teachers and staff who have supported them every step along the way, because we just could not do it without the amazing people working in education.

“I’m so pleased with what the young people have secured, and to hear that they’ve got great options that lie ahead of them. For those young people that haven’t quite achieved what they needed. There’s still lots of support that’s out there, and people should make sure they’re reaching out and getting that help.”
