A Level results day is always an exciting and emotional one for thousands of 18-year-olds as they leave behind their school years and find out where they will be heading come September.

For some that will be off to university. Others will seek employment. More will follow the route through vocational training.

There is a path for everyone, and everyone’s path will be different.

It is important that pupils don’t measure their achievements against others around them. Everyone has different abilities, different passions and different ambitions.

And while results day may be seen as a day of destiny it is, in fact, a day of opportunity.

For 18-year-olds it will be one of the biggest moments of their lives. That’s important to remember.

And on the morning of the results the other vital thing is not to panic if plans suddenly need to change.

Whatever the results, always know that support is there to make sure you have all the help you need to take the next steps.
