The product:Guerlain Terracotta.

Why we love it: In 1984, the French beauty brand Guerlain released a bronzer that would become an icon in the industry.

Dubbed Terracotta, the fine-powder makeup product was said to be inspired by the heart of the desert. Designed to capture “all the sun’s reflections,” the powder gave skin an instant sun-kissed glow.

Four decades since its launch, the product has evolved to include new iterations — like this stunning Superbloom release — as well as a liquid foundation formula, highlighter and more.

The pressed powder formulations have also been updated to include more natural ingredients, with the current offerings boasting 96 per cent naturally derived ingredients such as Moroccan argan oil, according to the brand. A refillable format, which allows for the product pan to be replaced with a new pressed powder once finished, has also been introduced to the Terracotta collection.

For application tips, Violette Serrat, creative director of Guerlain Makeup, offers a failsafe (and French girl-approved) application approach for a perfect faux glow.

“Apply Terracotta to the raised areas of the face, such as the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and top of the forehead, to give the face more structure while creating a natural golden tan,” Serrat suggests.

The price: From $59.
