An Aussie surfer who lost his leg after a shark attack last week has intentions of being “back in the water.”
On July 23, Kai McKenzie was surfing at North Shore Beach in Port Macquarie, Australia when a shark attacked him, severing his leg in the process.
As the injured surfer was being tended to by medical personnel his leg washed ashore, leaving doctors to wonder whether they could reattach it.
In a recent Instagram post, McKenzie said his leg wasn’t reattached.
“Sport something missing?” McKenzie captioned the photo. “Hahah, so good to have so many amazing people behind me I really appreciate it, love this crew so much thanks for coming yesterday and to all the donations f—ing unreal love you guys the links in my bio is g you’d like to donate.”
Another Instagram post by McKenzie noted the shark attack “scared the living f— out of me.” He said he’s grateful for the support he’s been getting since the attack.
“I’ll be back in the water in no time!” said McKenize. “BIG F— OFF TO THAT SHARK and BIG THANKS to Steve for saving my life.”
