If you’re still in need of a job this summer, the CNE might not be the place to try as Canada’s largest fair has already received more than 37,000 applications.

But that didn’t stop people from lining up to fight to be gate attendants, midway staff, food handlers, cashiers, retail associates, information guides and other positions.

Video of a massive lineup inside the main corridor of the Enercare Centre showed hundreds lined up on one side and a group of others against the opposite wall of windows.

While many on social media commented that the lines looked similar to those who waited to apply years and even decades ago, others pointed out that back then, it was pretty much strictly a summer job for high schoolers.

“I worked it 15 yrs ago and it was the same then,” one person commented.

“There have been lineups like this way back when I was younger,” another added, noting that while the amount of people wanting a job hasn’t changed, the age of applicants has.

“Nothing different but they are adults and not students.”

One user wrote, “It’s hard to find a summer job for 16 to 20 years olds,” while another mused, “So this is why my 16yr old cousin can’t find a summer job.”

The CNE noted that it is one of Canada’s largest employers of youth with more than 80% of its staff being between the ages of 14 and 29.

The demand for jobs in the province have been shown in dozens of social media videos taken at job fairs for grocery stores, retailers, restaurants and more.

The CNE added that while the number of applications received was a record, candidates can still applying online at the CNE’s website as there are positions yet to be filled.
