It could be another golden morning for Northern Irish athletes in Paris as rowers Philip Doyle and Rebecca Shorten chase Olympic titles in the Seine.

Banbridge man Doyle and his partner Daire Lynch will race for Ireland in the Double Sculls Final at 10.30am.

Joining the Dutch and Ireland in the Final are Romania, Spain, USA, and New Zealand. The Irish and Dutch will be alongside each other in lanes three and four respectively.

Just 20 minutes later, Belfast’s Rebecca Shorten will go for gold for Great Britain in the Women’s Fours alongside Olympic legend Helen Glover and debutants Esme Booth and Sam Redgrave.

Elsewhere, Holywood’s Rory McIlroy gets his Olympic golf campaign underway this morning. Derry’s Daniel Coyle also gets his Games underway in the Jumping Team Qualifier at 10am.

In the men’s hockey, Great Britain – featuring Cookstown’s David Ames – play France at 11.45am while Ireland take on Argentina at 12.15pm.
