The Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade is coming and there will be road closures.

The parade is taking place on Saturday and Toronto Police are making the public aware of some of the measures being taken to ensure a successful event.

Additional officers will be providing crowd and traffic management for public safety. This includes the evening hours in the downtown and waterfront as bars, night clubs and restaurants are expected to be packed. People should also expect traffic delays.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow the police X account for the latest information.

The Grand Parade will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 8 p.m. on Saturday. The parade will start at Exhibition Place grounds at Princes’ Blvd. to Canada Blvd. and then westbound Lake Shore Blvd. W. The parade will turn about 100 metres west of Jameson Ave. and then travel eastbound on Lake Shore.

Road closures take effect on Saturday at midnight and continue until Sunday at 7 a.m.

Closures include Lake Shore from Fort York Blvd. to Colborne Lodge Dr., while westbound Lake Shore between Bathurst St. and Fort York is open to local traffic only, as well as Strachan Ave. southbound from Fleet St.

The following Gardiner Expressway ramps will close at midnight on Saturday: The westbound on-ramp at Jameson Ave.; eastbound off-ramp at Jameson, eastbound on-ramp at Jameson and Lake Shore at British Columbia Rd.; and westbound off-ramp at Dunn Ave.,

Lake Shore will also close to traffic at midnight westbound from Strachan to Parkside Dr. and eastbound from Colborne Lodge to Strachan.

Princes’ Gates will remain closed to vehicle traffic on Saturday starting at 1 a.m.

To help with the flow of traffic and minimize disruptions to residents, the following streets will be restricted to local traffic only: Dufferin St. south of King St.; Dowling Ave. south of King; Stadium Rd. south of Lake Shore; Queens Quay west of Bathurst; Springhurst Ave. west of Jameson; Springhurst east of Jameson; and Remembrance Dr.

Other streets, although not restricted to vehicles, will be strictly enforced for parking infractions. These streets include those south of King, east of Colborne Lodge and west of Bathurst.

All vehicles, including tour buses, parked illegally on the following streets will be tagged and towed: Lake Shore, Bathurst, Fleet, King, Queen St. W., Roncesvalles Ave., Dufferin and The Queensway. Vehicles parked illegally in the Parkdale area and in the Stadium Rd. area will be tagged and towed.

Police said people should make themselves aware of alternative routes before heading into the downtown core to avoid delays and advised spectators to use public transit.
