A body has been recovered by the Coast Guard in the search for a young boy who went missing from the Cliffs of Moher area.

Following the discovery, the multi-agency search operation has been stood down, gardai said.

A file is being prepared for the coroner.

The land, sea and air search involving Gardai and other emergency services began after the alarm was raised on Tuesday.

Search efforts continued during the week.

Members of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), the Irish Coast Guard and local search and rescue services took part in the search.
