Prince Harry “dug” at his family in his ITV interview yesterday, royal commentator Jennie Bond has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex spoke to the broadcaster in a documentary named Tabloids on Trial, a new documentary exploring the royal’s fight against the British tabloids.
In the interview, journalist Becca Barry asked the royal: “To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed your relationship with your family?”
Prince Harry replied: “It is certainly a central piece to it. It is a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press.

“I have made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done.
“It would be nice if we did it as a family, I believe from a service standpoint and when you are in a public role these are the things we should be doing for the greater good. I am doing this for my reasons.”

Speaking to GB News, royal commentator Jennie Bond said: “He was asked directly, ‘do you think your determination to pursue your mission against the tabloids is the reason for your rift with the Royal Family’?
“And he said it was a central piece of that rift. So he is blaming the tabloids for that. And of course, that was part of his book, Spare.
“That was full of references to the fact that the rest of the family did not want to pursue publicly their feelings about the tabloids in the way that Harry wanted.
“Harry said that his father, Charles, said it was a suicide mission to try to bring the tabloids to book, but he feels that he is very well placed to do it.

“He had a little dig at his family by saying he felt that pursuing this, it was part of his service.
“And a service was something that the whole family ought to be doing. And it would be very nice if the family did it with him.
“That is not how the rest of the family wants to proceed. They have sued the tabloids in the past, but William himself has settled out of court on issues such as the phone hacking Harry is pursuing now.”
In the interview, the ITV reporter also asked the duke: “Some would say that you taking on these high-profile battles actually attracts more attention onto you?”

Harry responded: “There is more than enough attention on me and my wife anyway. There was… they pushed me too far. It got to a point where you’re damned if you do, you’re damned if you don’t.
“I don’t think there’s anybody else in the world that is better suited and placed to be able to see this through than myself.
“It’s still dangerous. And all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff, to act on what they have read…
“And whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is. And these are things that are a genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”
