Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a body at a house in south Belfast.

The discovery was made during searches for missing 34-year-old Kevin Davidson on Saturday.

On Monday morning, police had been granted a 36-hour extension to question a 32-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder.

Forensic teams have spent two days at the terraced house on Donegall Avenue collecting evidence and removing items of interest.

Police officers have been at the property since the discovery on Saturday evening.

Detective Inspector Jennifer Rea said: “We can now confirm that the body of a man located at a property in south Belfast on the evening of Saturday 20 July, was 34-year-old Kevin Davidson.

“Kevin was reported missing earlier this month and tragically officers located his body at an address in the Donegall Avenue area at the weekend.

“Our thoughts are first and foremost with Mr Davidson’s family and loved ones at this most distressing time.

“A 32-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman arrested in connection with the investigation both remain in custody.”
