After members of the crowd have to be relocated, Scott eventually takes a drop next to one of the stands.

He lands that shot on the green and will be putting for bogey.

And Thriston Lawrence has joined Billy Horschel and Justin Rose for a share of the lead thanks to a birdie on the seventh.

On the par-4 10th, Lowry is on the green in two and he will have a long putt for birdie.

Scott’s approach flies in the direction of the crowd and appears to hit a spectator on the head. The Australian goes to see if the fan is alright, and also to find his ball.

This is likely to hold these two up for a few minutes at least.

I should let you know that Justin Rose has joined Billy Horschel on six-under after putting for birdie on the eighth.

Par for Lowry on the ninth.

After a slow start, it has been an excellent front nine for the Irishman with four birdies, four pars and a bogey.

Scott also pars and he stays on one-under.

Meanwhile, Billy Horschel has birdied the sixth to go out on his own on six-under.

After five straight pars, Xander Schauffele has his first birdie on the sixth.

The 2024 PGA Championship winner has moved to within one shot of the lead, as has Scottie Scheffler, who has just holed back-to-back birdies. Russell Henley is also in that chasing group, along with Lowry.

Lowry is flying at the moment!

Next up is the Postage Stamp, just 123 yards long.

The tee shots give the pair great opportunities to birdie, and Lowry sends the putt right of the hole but it turns right on cue to drop in. He’s on four-under, one off the leaders.

It’s more of the same from Scott, however, who misses the birdie putt and settles for another par.

Lowry two shots off the lead.

It’s the easiest of putts and a third birdie of the day leaves Shane on three-under. He seems to be finding his groove. Scott pars again.

A magnificent approach shot from Lowry in front of the grandstand on the par-4 seventh. It takes a few hops and stops dead just beyond the flag. That should be another birdie.

Elsewhere, having dropped a shot on the previous hole, Billy Horschel birdies the fourth and he’s back on five-under with Rose and Lawrence, who birdied the third and fourth.

That is inches away.

Lowry very nearly holes another birdie from long distance but it stops just short. He taps in for par to remain on two-under and three back from the leader, Justin Rose.

Still on one-under, Scott takes the par.

Two good tee shots from Lowry and Scott on the par-5 sixth. Both are around 315 yards from the hole.

At the top of the leaderboard, Justin Rose has gone ahead of Billy Horschel and Thirston Lawrence with a birdie putt on the fourth to give him a one-shot advantage.

What a putt by Lowry!

The fifth hole is a par-3 of 220 yards, and Lowry’s tee looks a good one. From there, he sends a 56-foot putt down the green and in for back-to-back birdies – punching the air as he goes back into contention on two-under.

Adam Scott picks up his first bogey of the day to fall back to one-under.

Lowry’s back in the red.

On the par-5 fourth hole, Shane finds the bunker with his second but chips brilliantly from there and putts for birdie. He’s back on one-under.

Scott takes a par, keeping him one shot ahead of his playing partner.

Billie Horschel with the perfect start.

Ranked 62nd in the world, Horschel has gone to five-under to reclaim the sole lead by making a birdie on the first.

Playing partner Thriston Lawrence begins with a par.

Justin Rose takes a share of the lead.

Having parred the first, Rose takes his birdie chance on the second to join Billy Horschel as co-leader.

Elsewhere, Scottie Scheffler has moved to within a shot of them thanks to a birdie on the third.

Lowry has dropped a shot.

On the third, Lowry chips onto the shoulder and down the green. Putting from close range to make par, he misjudges it slightly and that bogey will put him on even-par.

His playing partner Adam Scott has better luck, sinking his putt for birdie to go to two-under.

Jon Rahm has birdied the seventh hole, his fourth birdie of the day, and now lies on two-under – just two shots off the lead.

The Spaniard is giving himself every chance.

Lowry starts with back-to-back pars.

The 37-year-old negotiates his way around Hole 2, a 389-yard par-4, to remain on one-under. Adam Scott does the same.

World number one Scottie Scheffler has begun with a par, while surprise package Dan Brown bogeys the first to drop back to two-under.

Justin Rose and Xander Schauffele have also just teed off.
