King Charles was left “frustrated” as a royal engagement descended into chaos, according to GB News’s Digital Royal Editor.

Svar Nanan-Sen discussed the King and Queen’s visit to the Channel Islands on this week’s episode of The Royal Record.

Charles, 75, and Camilla, 77, visited Jersey earlier this week followed by a day trip to Guernsey, two Crown Dependencies which are separate from the UK.

The King is the Head-of-State in both Bailiwick islands, and this was the first time since 2011 that a reigning monarch had visited the archipelago.

Cameron Walker, GB News’s Royal Correspondent, said in the podcast: “The King and Queen this week did a nice little trip to the sunny Channel Islands, which turned out not to be so sunny for Jersey but was very sunny for Guernsey.

“These are Crown Dependencies – the King is Head of State in Jersey and Guernsey, the two bailiwick separate Governments, not part of the UK.”

The Royal Correspondent spoke about the various crises which ensued during the trip, including an emergency security scare.

He continued: “I think they bit off more than they could chew, particularly in Jersey’s case.

“First of all, there was a security scare, as both the King and Queen had to be rushed into a hotel for their own safety before it was declared a false alarm.

“That was a pretty unexpected moment. We didn’t quite know the severity of it when it was first reported, obviously, it was a false alarm, but we haven’t seen something like that for quite a while.

“With everything that’s going on at the moment, it was quite worrying.”

Svar also spoke about King Charles erupting at a royal aide during an engagement in Jersey, which caused a stir online among fans.

He added: “There are a few things with that Jersey engagement that didn’t quite go to plan, including the weather.

“As you mentioned, it was pouring down with rain. There was also a moment where Charles’s frustration showed when he was helping Camilla get on her coat in the pouring rain.

“Somewhere between holding the umbrella and trying to get a coat on, it became all too much for him.

“He just turned to one of his aides and clearly snapped at him and said something and the aide rushed over to help after that.
