The owners of a Bristol pub famous locally for its Sunday roasts have made the decision to stop selling food amidst rising costs. The move comes after 12 years of food service, with Sunday July 28 being the kitchen’s last day.

The Gallimaufry on Gloucester Road opened in 2002 and operates a café bar, as well as running various events throughout the week. Each Monday a relaxed Open Mic evening sees a variety of music played and weekend DJ sessions by local artists garner both new and loyal crowds.

On their Instagram page, the team said: “Sunday the 28th July will be the last day of in-house food service at the Galli. Increased costs and reduced sales have made it increasingly difficult to operate in the way we used to.

“It’s the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make, but it’s the right one to protect the Galli as a whole, and be able to continue to operate as a community and music space. Food will return in the future, but in a different style of operation.”

The Gallimaufry’s Sunday roast menu offers dishes for vegans, vegetarians and those with gluten free diets. Reservations for the last Sunday lunch service are already being booked up, so don’t miss out on a chance to sample what’s on offer before it’s too late.

Gloucester Road has the longest row of independent shops in Europe. A number of businesses have struggled to stay afloat on the popular street in recent years, with Bristol café chain Spicer and Cole closing its doors last year and Italian restaurant Bomboloni closed after five years of service in 2022.
