A star of Gladiators stopped the show this week in order to make a huge announcement which left fans wanting ‘justice’.

The BBC’s popular reboot has been a hit with viewers since its second season kicked off earlier this year. In the episode aired on March 15, hosts Bradley and Barney Walsh returned to our screens for the final round of the quarter-finals.

Those who tuned in watched as contestants battled it out in a bid to secure their spot in the semi-finals, participating in a range of events including Unleash and intense rounds of Duel. The competition saw Nathan from Sunderland take on Andy from Bournemouth, while Rachel, daughter of former boxer Frank Bruno from Essex, faced off against Keeva from Belfast.

In a surprising twist, one Gladiator made an unexpected appearance with a significant announcement. Hosts Bradley and Barney introduced Giant, who had not yet participated in any of the events, much to the surprise of some viewers.

He revealed that he had unfortunately sustained a bicep injury during his most recent participation in Powerball, reports the Mirror. As a result, the Gladiator will be unable to participate in the rest of the current series.

This news was a disappointment to viewers at home, who quickly took to social media to share their reactions, with many sending their best wishes. However, there were also quite a few who were quick to point fingers.

On the platform X, reactions have poured in regarding a notable absence. One viewer lamented: “Awwww. No more Giant. No more of them thighs.” Another grasped the situation and remarked: “Ah, that’s why there was no Giant/ Nathan rematch.”

Several viewers pointed fingers at contestant Andy, who was vying for a place in the semi-finals this week, suggesting he caused the injury.

An individual expressed their discontent with: “Justice for Giant! Andy must not win.” Echoing this sentiment, someone else insisted: “Giant deserves justice. Hopefully Andy won’t win tonight.”

Adding a touch of humor to the situation, another quipped: “I hope Giant’s come back just to grind Andy into a fine red paste.”

Gladiators continues on Saturday nights at 5:50pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
