A National Lottery player has said that he “plans to enjoy life a little more” after bagging a mammoth £1million prize.

The man – from West Sussex – played “sentimental numbers” which ended up matching five main numbers as well as the Bonus Ball in the Lotto draw on February 22.

The individual, who has opted to not reveal his identity, entered the numbers via the National Lottery’s website.

But, after purchasing a new car with his winnings, he announced that he “plans to enjoy life a little more” while going on some exotic trips abroad.

Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery Andy Carter said: “What wonderful news for Mr F, who can now look forward to a lovely exotic holiday and driving around in his new car.

“Huge congratulations!”

Winners are able to choose to remain entirely anonymous, partially anonymous or go all out in publicising their identity after they scoop up their prize.

The West Sussex local’s win has followed a number of lucky winners in the UK.

Last week, one National Lottery winner shared her generous plans to share her prize with her local community.

Ranmal Punja Odera – a shopkeeper at Smokers Paradise newsagents in Billericay – was handed her winnings by the lottery’s operator, Allwyn.

She now intends to use the cash to pay for elderly customers to afternoon tea – adding to her already abundant generosity as she often takes her customers out for brunch and dinner.

Odera managed to bag the prize by taking part in Allwyn’s quarterly draw which hands out winnings to National Lottery retailers across Britain for boosting their ticket sales.

Luck could be just around the corner for any player – as discovered last week by new millionaire Craig Haggie who scooped up the winnings during an impromptu burger stop-off.

The father-of-four, 36, had ordered his food to take away before popping into a Spar on Fore Street in Callington, Cornwall, to buy a drink and two scratchcards – one of which netted him a cool seven-figure sum.

“It was absolute pandemonium, my family were jumping around the office screaming – while my first thought was: ‘Where’s the safest place to keep the scratchcard?” Haggie said.

He continued: “My brother and I decided I should keep it close, literally, so we put the ticket in a plastic bag and taped it to my body. We must have looked crazy mad as he held the roll of tape, and I twirled around to make sure it was stuck securely to my body.

“It didn’t last long… I quickly got very sweaty, and it wasn’t staying stuck to me – so we settled on keeping it in a saucepan on the top of a kitchen cabinet instead. You clearly don’t think straight when you find out you’re a millionaire.”
