Lorraine was full of exciting scenes on Friday as one guest learnt some life-changing news live on air.
During the latest instalment, Andi Peters rang up guest Joy to reveal she had won a huge cash prize.
However, he admitted he had tried ringing her twice before to no avail as he pleaded: “Please answer your phone because I’ve got some really good news for you…”
Thankfully, it was third time lucky as Joy answered and Andi said: “Hello, this is Andi Peters, you’re live on ITV on Lorraine please don’t say anything fruity!”
He added: “I’m going to tell you, you’ve won £150,000!” to which Joy was left speechless as she admitted: “You’re kidding me! Oh my goodness me!”
However, Joy was quick to ask: “Is this real or is it a scam?” as Andi insisted: “It’s not a scam, I’m not AI, but that’s a valid question Joy!
“I’ll tell you what’s going to happen, Joy, I will call you back shortly and we’ll have a little chit chat and you’ll know it’s me.
“But for now, Joy, congratulations… you’ve just won £150,000” to which Joy said: “Wow that’s amazing, thank you very much!”
It comes as Lorraine Kelly was forced to take back the reins of her show earlier this week after suffering an on-air technical issue and one guest failing to show up on live TV.
In his usual fashion, Andi appeared on screen to talk to ITV viewers about the competition he had coming up when things didn’t quite go to plan.
He was hoping to be joined by a former winner called Cheryl but as he summoned the lucky person, she failed to appear on screens as had been planned.
“We make winners all the time here at ITV and one of our latest winners was lovely Cheryl and here’s what she thought when she found out the news that she’d won,” announced Andi.
After a moment of pause, he quickly realise something was amiss. He then quipped: “Unfortunately Cheryl is so busy outdoors celebrating that we can’t show you Cheryl right now.”
Lorraine could be heard giggling off screen as Andi said: “Don’t laugh Lorraine, she’s gone out to lunch.”
With laughter in her voice, Lorraine made a playful dig. She said: “Of course she is, too busy to be hanging out with you!”
