During the latest episode of Good Morning Britain, a live broadcast was interrupted by Charlotte Hawkins with breaking news.
On Friday’s (March 14) airing of the ITV breakfast favourite, Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder were at the helm, sharing the day’s headlining stories to the viewers.
However, a sudden update forced co-presenter Charlotte to interject as she reported that the UK economy had experienced a drop of 0.1% in January, according to the latest official figures.
Addressing the audience, Charlotte disclosed: “Good morning and breaking news. In just the last few moments official figures that have just been released show the UK economy shrank by 0.1% in January, that is according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). It was largely driven by a slow down in manufacturing.”

Britain’s economy shrunk in January amid a sharp fall in the manufacturing sector, in a blow to Chancellor Rachel Reeves before her spring statement, official figures have shown.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the economy contracted 0.1% during the month, behind expert predictions and down from a 0.4% rise in December.
Most economists had forecast gross domestic product (GDP) to rise by 0.1% in the first month of the year. The news comes as Kate was recently told to ‘move on’ as producers were forced to intervene.
On Thursday’s (March 13) show, Kate alongside co-host Ed Balls engaged in conversation about the unusual scenario of a hawk attacking tall men in a village in Hertfordshire, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Co-host Ranvir Singh was buzzing with excitement as she shared her thoughts regarding the hawk’s breed and its motivations. Throughout the banter, Kate playfully remarked: “She’s all over this!” to which Ed added, jesting: “All these theories going around this morning!”
As the programme’s producers nudged her to change topics, Kate confessed: “The producers are saying to ‘move on’ but I’d be quite happy to talk about this all morning, I’m fascinated here!”
Ed retorted in jest: “Or… if we wait long enough, the hawk will appear!” This hawk has caused quite a stir in Flamstead, Hertfordshire, by specifically targeting tall gentlemen on the head in nearly 20 known incidents.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
