After Rosie O’Donnell’s much-ballyhooed move to Europe, U.S. President Donald Trump told Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin he’s “better off not knowing” who she is.
O’Donnell, 62, announced in a viral TikTok video that she has left the United States following Trump’s return to power.
“I just felt like we needed to take care of ourselves and make some hard decisions and follow through and now, as we’re getting settled, I was ready to post this and tell everybody what’s going on,” O’Donnell told her 2.5 million followers on the social media platform.
Referring to herself as the star of The Flintstones, O’Donnell revealed that she and her 12-year-old daughter Dakota packed their bags and headed to Ireland in mid-January.
The Emmy winner left America, she said, because “that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child.”
With Irish Prime Minister Martin in Washington for meetings with Trump, Real America’s Voice correspondent Brian Glenn asked him about O’Donnell’s decision to emigrate to his country.
“Ireland is known for very happy, fun-loving people,” Glenn said. “Why in the world would you let Rosie O’Donnell move to Ireland? I think she is going to lower your happiness.”
Before Martin — who looked confused and didn’t seem to know who O’Donnell was — could answer, Trump jumped in with dig at the actress and comedienne, who he has been feuding with for nearly 20 years.
“That’s true, I like that question. Do you know you have Rosie O’Donnell? Do you know who she is? You’re better off not knowing,” Trump said in a video shared by journalist Nick Sortor.
The clash between O’Donnell and Trump started in 2006 when she referred to the billionaire businessman as a “snake-oil salesman” on The View after he held a press conference to announce that he would not be stripping Tara Conner of her Miss USA title following an underage scandal involving booze and drugs.
“He’s the moral authority? Left the first wife, had an affair, left the second wife, had an affair, had kids both times, but he’s the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America. Donald, sit and spin, my friend!” she railed. “I don’t enjoy him.”
O’Donnell also lashed out at Trump’s claims he was a “self-made man.”
“He’s been bankrupt so many times!” she cried. “The people that he owed money to got shorted out, but he got to try again and again.”
Trump responded to her criticisms by calling O’Donnell “a real loser” and “a woman out of control.”
As the two exchanged barbs in the ensuing years, O’Donnell claimed the war-of-words led to “the most bullying I ever experienced in my life.”
But despite her ongoing feud with Trump, O’Donnell said in her selfie-style TikTok video she and her daughter are “happy” now that they’ve left America.
“It’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say. The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming and I’m very grateful,” O’Donnell said.
