OTTAWA—Canada will be imposing 25 per cent reciprocal tariffs on $29.8 billion of American imports after U.S. levies on steel and aluminum went into effect earlier this morning.

Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc announced the new tariffs will begin Thursday at 12:01 a.m.

He says the new tariffs will be in addition to the countermeasures Canada applied to $30 billion worth of U.S. goods earlier this month.
