Amazon shoppers are snapping up a ‘moreish’ flavoured rum that is now 25% off. Kraken’s Black Cherry and Vanilla Black Spiced rum would normally set you back £26.80 on the shopping giant but has dropped down to £19.97 in a limited time deal.
It features the iconic bottle shape that Kraken is known for and has a deep black cherry flavour that’s balanced with Madagascan vanilla – although it’s been reported to also have notes of liquorice. It can be enjoyed neat but fans say it’s best paired with cola in a Cherry Cola cocktail.
This is a great option for fans of Project #173 who are looking for something with a slightly lower ABV and price. Those who like Depth Charge’s Black Cherry Spiced Rum will likely also enjoy Kraken’s offering.

It’s brought in an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 from across 28,967 global ratings. One shopper said: “I don’t like to say how good this rum is because it might make it in short supply. It is the best tasting rum that I found so far it is strong and sweet and a great taste of the black cherries. I cannot recommend it highly enough. what a great tasting rum.”
A second penned: “I was always buying other brands of rum and had never tried Kraken. I decided to give this one a go and I was blown away. The flavours really come through strongly. Others I have tried seemed very subtle. This one is more than subtle. Let’s face it, if you buy a flavoured drink, you want to taste that flavour through your mixer. This does exactly that. Mixed with Diet Coke, its a lovely drop and very moreish!”
A third penned: “I’m not a big fan of rum but when I saw this I had to give it a try. I was right to try it, the flavour combinations work well. I enjoyed it so much I have gone back for more and even brought a bottle as a gift. The price on Amazon is usually much cheaper than other stockist of it.”
Not everyone was so pleased, one shopper said: “Not impressed with the flavour. It would be cheaper to buy regular Kraken and use cherry coke. Unfortunately I can’t stand cherry coke. This is a Marmite product, you either love it or hate it.”
Our team drinks expert, who worked as a bartender and is triple certified in wine, tried this rum and said: “The flavour of cherry is very much front and centre but I noticed an almost liquorice note lingering just behind it. You can taste the vanilla and sugar notes but you mainly get a strong cherry flavour, which is exactly what you’d want from a cherry rum.
“While it can be served neat there’s a way I like it much more – with cola. Cherry Cola has for a long time been my go to drink from Coca Cola’s range and when mixing this rum it tastes exactly like that. There isn’t even a burn going down even with it being 40% ABV so please do remember to drink responsibly.”
