Family-run Bristol company Sandwich Sandwich has confirmed the opening date of its second London branch. The company, known for its ‘masterpiece’ sandwich creations, will be opening its second store on Mark Lane in the capital on Monday, March 17, dubbing it ‘the UK’s biggest sandwich shop’ – that they know of.

The massive milestone comes just six months after the successful launch of their debut London store on Gresham Street. The team’s expansion into London last summer was ‘just the beginning’, they said, with plans to open four more London locations this year.

Beginning life as a shop in Bristol in 2010, Nick and Josh Kleiner’s Sandwich Sandwich has gone on to become a beloved Bristol institution, garnering acclaim and fans from all over the world – as well as more than a few celebrity visits. Back in 2023, the team won the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year award.

On the new opening, Josh said: “It’s been a lot of hard work, but I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished. Everything we’ve learned from our six months in London has gone into Mark Lane, and we can’t wait to share this new space with everyone!”

The Mark Lane location will bring the brand’s popular Grab & Go range, alongside catering services, click and collect, and exclusive Uber Eats delivery. Items on the menu will include the iconic Sandwich Sandwich cross-section creations, hot stacks, award-winning scotch eggs and sausage rolls, and more.

Speaking with BristolLive about the upcoming opening back in November, Josh continued: “The support has been phenomenal. We’re so grateful to even be in a position with everything going on in the world that we can expand. But to see people so supportive of what we’re doing, and genuinely loving what we do – that’s getting us super excited.”

Josh added that the new store will have more space for staff to put together their delicious creations – with up to 20 sandwich artists on a line-up at any given time during busy periods. And, when it comes to the family’s hometown, Josh says that there will be more to come to Bristol in the future – think more sites and even more exclusive flavours for Bristolians only to enjoy.

Josh continued: “I can’t put into words how much I miss Bristol. We want it to be our home forever and, without it, we wouldn’t be in the position we are today. So we want to bring something exciting that’s just for Bristol – but that’s further down the line.”
