Asda has issued an urgent recall for its Hapello Sensory Roller children’s toy as it presents a safety hazard.

The supermarket discovered that some units may contain small pieces of plastic that could become dislodged, therefore posing a “choking risk”.

‘Batch #36 of Hapello may pose a risk of choking’

George at Asda

Asda advised those who have purchased the Hapello Sensory Roller with the affected batch and barcode to “stop using it immediately”.

Shoppers were told: “We have found that in a small number of cases, batch #36 of Hapello may pose a risk of choking due to the potential release of a small piece of plastic lodged in the toy in the manufacturing process.”

Consequently, customers who have purchased the affected product were instructed to return it to their nearest Asda store.

A full refund will be provided without the need for a receipt.

The supermarket apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused by the recall.

Those who require further information can contact Asda Customer Relations at 0800 952 0101.

The Hapello Fun Sensory Roller retails for £7. Its official description on the George website reads: “The Hapello Sensory Roller is the perfect addition for your little ones’ playtime.

“Let them discover how to get the shapes in and out of the soft fabric sides. The six shapes included all have different patterns, textures and colours with rattle sounds for added sensory experience.”

Product and food recalls must be taken extremely seriously to ensure the safety of shoppers.

Recently, Britons were alerted as products sold at Tk Maxx, Homesense and Amazon were deemed dangerous.

This included two hair straighteners that present a “fire risk” as a result of containing “counterfeit” parts.

In other Asda news, the supermarket will be the first in the UK to sell Hula Hoops’ “irresistible” new crisp flavour.
