BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent swiftly hit back at her co-star Jon Kay after he made a ‘ruthless’ jibe at her following their time on Bargain Hunt.

On the Wednesday (March 12) edition of the beloved morning programme, viewers saw the duo return to the iconic red sofa to discuss the latest headlines.

The conversation quickly steered towards the presenters’ stint on BBC’s Bargain Hunt for a special episode marking the show’s quarter-century. The competitive edge was evident as Jon accused Sally of being ‘completely ruthless’.

Following the highlights reel from their appearance, Jon noted: “I’ve just noticed that I didn’t even say well done so well done.”

Sally retorted with a challenge: “Say it like you mean it”, reports the Express. To which Jon responded: “Well done Sal.”

He then observed to Sally, claiming: “You got really into it. You were like ‘I don’t know what I’m doing, I’ll just buy anything’ but you were utterly strategic, completely ruthless and you knew what you were doing.”

Caught off guard and chuckling, Sally replied: “We can’t have this conversation right now.” She elaborated: “You took it much more seriously than I did. I didn’t even know what we were meant to do.”

Jon wasn’t easily placated as he asserted: “I’ve been doing my homework and failed miserably, which is pretty typical I think.” To conclude, Sally remarked: “I just thought it was a pretty tea pot and it looked nice.”

When Jon said: “Well, well done” Sally cheekily fired back: “I’m sorry Jon. How much did you lose again?”. Jon quipped, making light of the situation: “It will say biggest loser in Bargain Hunt history or whatever”, prompting Sally to erupt into laughter.

This one-off episode featured John at the helm, with seasoned expert Tim Weeks from Bargain Hunt offering guidance to Jon and Sally as they scoured for antiques and hidden gems. Jon’s haul included a £129 vintage Dinky Toy car and a £40 tea caddy set.

On the other hand, Sally showcased her thrifty side by opting for a £19 coffee grinder and snagging a large teapot celebrating the Queen’s Golden Jubilee for a mere £5. Ultimately, Sally emerged victorious with a £51 profit, while Jon suffered a substantial £104 loss.
