Virgin Media is currently offering customers the opportunity to get their hands on a popular iPad for free. This limited-time deal features the 9th Gen Apple tablet, with a 10.2-inch screen, speedy processor, and features like a Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

The device also provides access to millions of apps and is compatible with Apple’s keyboard case and Apple Pencil stylus, although these accessories are not included in the offer. It should be noted that this isn’t one of Apple’s latest devices, having first launched in 2021. However, it’s a solid tablet that is ideal for watching films on the go, sending emails and browsing the internet.

Despite its age, retailers still stock the device, including Amazon which has a renewed, second-hand option for £209. But Virgin customers can get it for free if they lock into a specific plan – the Mega Volt Bundle.

Unfortunately, unlike typical Virgin Media sale – which have included Xbox consoles and 4K TVs – this iPad offer is only available when signing up for the company’s top-tier TV and broadband package, rather than its other more affordable plans, reports the Express.

This means you’ll need to opt for the ultimate Mega Volt Bundle. This includes web access at over 1Gbps, more than 230 TV channels, access to Sky Sports and Sky Cinema. Although it goes without saying that the per-month price is costly.

An unlimited O2 mobile SIM is also included in the bundle. Overall it costs £88.99 per month, and requires an 18-month contract commitment, that’s £1,601.82 all-in.

It’s certainly an eye-opening deal, but there are a few things keen shoppers should consider. Only those who’ve been interested in what the Mega Volt bundle has to offer and want an iPad should consider it. The provider is also clear in highlighting that this deal is subject to stock so it’s unclear how many consumers will get the freebie.

If you’re only on the hunt for an iOS iPad, then this won’t be for you because of the added package cost. It’s also worth mentioning that Apple has recently unveiled three new tablets, including upgrades to its entry-level model and enhancements to the iPad Air range. These devices now boast faster speeds due to improved processors.

The new 2025 iPad Air M3 is currently available to pre-order from retailers including Amazon and Sky Mobile, before the flagship models hit UK stock.
