Married at First Sight Australia fans were left gobsmacked after a groom’s shocking confession on Tuesday (March 11).
The 12th season of the popular reality show, currently airing on E4, has already been filled with drama and jaw-dropping revelations.
In the latest episode, the newlywed couples gathered for their first dinner party of the series. While most pairs arrived hand-in-hand, not all were in a state of wedded bliss.
Katie and Tim, one of the less fortunate couples, arrived separately following a rocky start to their marriage.
Despite appearing compatible on paper, Tim quickly revealed his lack of attraction towards Katie, repeatedly telling producers that there was no “spark”.
A heartbroken Katie tried to salvage their relationship during their honeymoon, but Tim remained unresponsive. However, during the dinner party, Tim claimed that he had been “making the most effort” in their relationship.
Reacting to this, a stunned Katie said: “Hearing that, I was like, ‘What the hell? That does not make sense.’ He’s the one who’s pushed me away from day one, he’s the one that’s rejected me,” reports OK!
Tim then expressed his disappointment when he didn’t feel reciprocation from Katie, saying: “I was here to get to know you and when you don’t feel that you get that back, it’s devastating.”
He then accused Katie of “betraying” his trust after she failed to defend him in front of the group.
Tim’s unexpected confession sparked outrage among MAFS viewers tonight, with droves of fans expressing their disappointment on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“That Tim is absolutely unbelievable,” tweeted one viewer, while a second added: “Get Tim off my screen, I’m getting mad.”
A third chimed in saying: “Tim has zero respect for Katie. He has zero interest of how his behaviour affects her. I’m done.”
“Who else is screaming at their TV? What the hell is going on?” asked an exasperated fan, and another shared: “This is heartbreaking to watch.”
During the dinner party, bride Jamie didn’t hold back her thoughts either, saying: “I know what’s going on, I can see what’s going on, I’m not stupid. It’s just a gaslighting move, like what is this?”
Jamie shared her empathy and understanding for such a situation, stating: “I know what it’s like to be in that position. I know what it’s like for someone to make you feel less than, dim your shine, make you question yourself, blame yourself – that is not ok.”
Viewers praised Jamie’s support, commending her: “Jamie has become one of the best ones in the entire experiment for being the only one to speak up for Katie and speak the truth.”
