There have been widespread tributes following the death of Co Donegal woman Jenna Shovlin, who passed away suddenly in New York.

A funeral notice said the Portnoo native passed away in the US city on Saturday. It is understood she died following a short illness.

The woman worked on a number of notable film and television projects in her role at Warner Bros film studios, including 2024’s The Instigators, blockbuster film Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and 2021 musical tick, tick… BOOM!.

Her funeral will take place on Saturday in New York.

Ardara-based GAA club Clg Ard An Ratha described the woman as “beautiful”.

“Devastating news arrived in the parish again last night, with the news of the sudden death of Jenna Shovlin of The Rock, Narin,” they wrote.

“Jenna was a beautiful girl who had made a new life for herself in New York, and was a person who made a lasting impression on whoever she met, with a smile that lit up every room she went into.

“The news of her passing has left a black cloud over our parish once more.

“We offer our deepest condolences to Frankie, Kathleen, Christopher, Keith and to the extended Shovlin and Furey families on Jennas death.

“May her gentle soul rest in peace.”

A funeral notice said the woman “will be sadly missed by her heartbroken parents, Frankie and Kathleen, brothers Christopher (Tanya), Keith (Hannah), nieces Lilly and Jodie, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, extended family, friends and neighbours.”
