Television presenter Gaby Roslin admits she feels “lucky to be here” as she reveals she does one simple exercise daily to stay in shape.

The 60-year-old has graced screens for over three decades now, rising to fame on Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast. Despite growing older, Gaby jokes she tells everyone she has turned 33 each birthday, believing “age is just a number”.

She says she “lost too many friends young” while her mum Jackie died of lung cancer, aged 62, in 1997. As she ages, Gaby says she likes to maintain a positive outlook in life.

Speaking to Best magazine, Gaby said: “Age is never going to stop me doing anything. I feel lucky to be alive.”

As well as maintaining a positive outlook on life, the Shop Smart, Save Money presenter says she likes to keep fit by walking. She explained: “I walk between five and 10 miles a day, and not only is it good for your heart, but good for your soul and mental health.”

Gaby says walking is also good for the planet, making it a “quadruple whammy”. She also likes to maintain a healthy diet, having “studied” nutrition since her dad, BBC radio announcer Clive Roslin, was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Her healthy lifestyle led Gaby to giving up alcohol, admitting she doesn’t enjoy hangovers, while she also decides to stay away from certain foods. “I was banging on about cutting out sugars and processed foods and looking after gut health for years before the world caught up,” she said.

Gaby rose to fame on The Big Breakfast in the 1990s alongside broadcaster Chris Evans. After her departure in 1996, she went on to front the Gaby Roslin Show for a year.

She was also the face of Children in Need alongside legendary television presenter Sir Terry Wogan. The pair forged a successful presenting duo, later hosting the Terry and Gaby show together.

Last year she joined the Shop Smart, Save Money team, replacing Angelica Bell, and has recently taken up a show on Magic Radio as well as branching out into podcasting. Gaby admits she “loves” that her life is busy because she is doing her “dream job”.

Gaby hosts her show between 10am and 1pm on Saturdays. When the news was announced, she said: “How lucky am I that I get to spend Saturday mornings with the fabulous Magic Radio listeners – finding out how everyone plans to spend their weekend and spending some time with them at the start of the best two days of the week?”
