Nestled in the heart of the Laurentians, Tremblant stands as one of Canada’s premier ski resorts, offering an unparalleled experience for outdoor enthusiasts, food lovers, and adventure seekers alike. This stunning four-season destination isn’t just about skiing — it’s a vibrant, all-encompassing retreat that blends breathtaking natural beauty, world-class amenities, and the warm hospitality of Quebec.
A World-Class Skiing Destination
Tremblant consistently ranks among the top five ski resorts in Canada, and for good reason. With an impressive seasonal snowfall averaging 450 cms (over 550cms this season), 754 skiable acres and one of North America’s most sophisticated snowmaking systems with more than 1,200 snow guns. The resort boasts 102 runs, with Nansen being the longest at 6 km. The mountain is serviced by 14 lifts, including two gondolas and two magic carpets, making it easy to access the various slopes. For freestyle enthusiasts, there are three snow parks, and the resort’s four distinct slopes provide excellent skiing options in all weather conditions.
During my recent four-day visit, I enjoyed 15 cm of fresh Quebec powder, three days of sunshine, and some of the best winter ambiance in Canada. My ski days began with early morning runs on the sunny north side, followed by afternoons chasing the sun on the south side, with lifts now closing at 4:30 p.m. Even on a windy, cooler day, the tree-lined runs off the Soleil Express chair provided the perfect solution. One of the most unique experiences was a visit to Refuge du Trappeur, an authentic log cabin nestled between two slopes so keep an eye out for the sign. Surrounded by towering trees, this rustic retreat offers homemade stew, local beers, and hot mulled wine — truly an alpine haven.
A European-Inspired Village
Tremblant’s pedestrian-only village is like stepping into a European winter wonderland. Its cobblestone streets, charming boutiques, one-of-a kind restaurants and cozy cafés make for the perfect après-ski atmosphere. Whether you’re shopping for high-end sportswear, unique souvenirs, or indulging in locally made chocolates or famous Quebec maple syrup shops the village has something for everyone.
And with over 30 restaurants, Tremblant is a foodie’s dream. Some must-visit spots include Microbrasserie La Diable, famous for mouthwatering ribs and handcrafted beers in the heart of Vieux-Tremblant, and O Wok, a surprising delight serving authentic Thai and Asian-inspired cuisine, including dumplings, veggie dim sum, and vegetable pad Thai. For a fine dining experience, Fairmont Tremblant’s Choux Gras Brasserie Culinaire offers a retro-designed, comforting fireplace in the middle and award-winning dining experience where I savoured East Coast lobster tails, classic French onion soup, and perfectly cooked filet mignon. The restaurant’s extensive wine list boasts over 225 selections from around the world.
Luxury Accommodation: Fairmont Tremblant
My home away from home was Fairmont Tremblant, a five-star luxury landmark overlooking the village. As the only ski-in/ski-out hotel on the mountain, it offers unbeatable convenience especially with the ski valet service. As you’d expect there’s a wonderful car valet service with a car wash, courteous door men, concierge and bell hops. You never touch your luggage or skis with everything taken care of. New this year is the private Gold Level on the newly renovated 7th floor, a hotel-within-a-hotel experience featuring exclusive VIP service and a private reception desk. This level offers a complimentary lounge with a full hot-and-cold breakfast, afternoon tea, and a pre-dinner buffet of meats, salads, and cheeses. Soft drinks, water, and juice are available throughout the day, along with an honour bar for select wines, alcohol, and beer.
Another highlight is the newly renovated outdoor terrace, featuring heated pools and La Terrasse Apres-Ski, where guests can unwind with signature drinks, Quebec poutine, and gourmet burgers in vintage gondolas, Muskoka chairs with firepits and a Hypedome dining pod.
Après-Ski & Nightlife
Tremblant has been named the No. 1 après-ski resort in Eastern North America by Ski Magazine and they take post-ski celebrations seriously. Along with La Terrasse, visitors can soak up the late-day sun at heated patios like Resto-Bar Le Shack, La Forge and their new heated terrace in the heart of Place St-Bernard. For those looking to keep the night going, Le P’tit Caribou and Central Tapas & Nightclub offer vibrant nightlife experiences.
Beyond Skiing: A Winter Wonderland of Activities
For non-skiers, Tremblant offers a diverse range of activities, including a visit to the Casino de Mont-Tremblant for a touch of glamour or ice skating near the Fairmont at the illuminated Ice Garden, There’s also a unique Ski in/Ski out Casino on Versant Soleil). Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy ice climbing, snowshoeing, and snow tubing, while those seeking a more relaxing experience can take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snowy forest or indulge in the serenity of nearby Scandinave Spa and or Brind’O Aquaclub water park.
A Summer Destination Too!
Tremblant Resort isn’t just a winter paradise—it’s an incredible summer retreat as well. Seasonal highlights include the all new Bloomafest Tremblant on May 9-10, a free, two-day music extravaganza, and the International Blues Festival from July 9-13, featuring world-renowned musicians. Salsa in August and The Fête de la Musique de Tremblant in September with 25 free concerts in the pedestrian village. For those looking for outdoor adventure, world-class golf courses, hiking, and mountain biking provide endless opportunities. Motorsport enthusiasts can visit Circuit Mont-Tremblant, a legendary racetrack, while summer skiing on a dry synthetic surface allows skiers to continue practising their skills even after the snow has melted. I’ve done this and it’s a blast along with Iconic Ziptrek Tremblant zipline.
