A bargain food shop, which closed its doors in Avonmouth last year, has confirmed it is set to open its brand new site in Speedwell later this month. Bargain Brand Foods is hoping to open its doors on March 21.
Speaking to BristolLive, owner Darren said: “We haven’t got an official opening date yet, but we’re aiming for the 21st. There’s still work being completed in there at the moment. They’re just putting all the racking up now.
“Times are rough at the moment, everywhere. We do short-dated food and drink, at major discount prices. It’s full steam ahead. We’ve had loads of support from the Bristol people already – our last shop helped so many people out.”
Darren said that their former Avonmouth site closed after a ‘problem’ with the port authority there and parking, which meant they had to close up shop. Back in October, BristolLive reported that the brand had given a sneak peek of its new location in Speedwell and now the store’s brand new Facebook page, Bargain Brand Foods Foundry Lane – Speedwell, has been updating fans and soon-to-be-shoppers with its progress.

In a post on March 7, the team wrote: “We’re finally opening! After some unexpected delays and setbacks, we are THRILLED to announce that we will be opening our brand-new store, Bargain Brand Foods Foundry Lane! Location: Unit 1A, The Printworks, Foundry Lane, BS5 7UZ
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and now we’re ready to bring you unbeatable bargains and top-quality products! The first lot of racking has gone into store this morning…
“Thank you for your patience, support, and excitement throughout this journey. We can’t wait to welcome you all through our doors. Come celebrate with us and be a part of our grand opening! We will be announcing our official opening date soon.”
