A laundry expert has shared how people may not be using washing machine pods in the most effective way. “Queen of Clean” Lynsey Crombie appeared on ITV’s This Morning on Monday to share her best tips and tricks for a clean and efficient wash.

She told hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley: “I’ve got some tips and tricks to make it a bit easier. I don’t think people are actually doing laundry wrong, but I do have some things to tell them to make them think.

“Let’s start with [washing machine] pods. Should you put it in before or after?” Cat replied that she puts hers “underneath the laundry”.

Lynsey continued: “That’s right, put it in first, that’s why it’s gonna dissolve, it works better that way. [Some] people have been putting them in the drawer. Don’t do that because it’s not going to do anything.”

She added: “It’s the little things… people get into a habit and they forget.” Discussing liquid detergent, she said that if people are only doing half a load, for example, they should only use half the amount.

Lynsey said: “People never pick up the bottle and read the label.” Her advices comes after one women highlighted a “hidden” washing machine compartment that needs emptying on a regular basis.

Lifestyle blogger and mum Chrissy, who goes by the username The.peaceful.sleeper on Instagram gained huge traction when she told her many followers that they need to empty the water reservoir “every two to four weeks” adding that it “takes 30 seconds and keeps everything fresh”.
