Spring cleaning your home ahead of the new season doesn’t have to be a chore according to shoppers that are singing the praises of a Russell Hobbs steam mop now on sale at Amazon. Saying the Russell Hobbs Steam and Clean is ‘so easy to use and so light to push using it really doesn’t seem like a chore’, it can now be snapped up for £27.99.

The limited-time Amazon deal brings the Russell Hobbs device down to the cheapest price we can currently find it, on sale for £35, down from £40 at Dunelm,Robert Dyas and Currys. This Russell Hobbs steam mop has even been compared to pricier models, with one shopper calling it ‘great value for money and much better than the more expensive one I had before’.

Now setting customers back less than £28, it’s a steal for those wanting to keep their homes clean and fresh while sticking to a budget. The Steam and Clean comes in blue and white, or a pink colourway is a little extra priced at £34. With the ability to heat up in 25 seconds, the steam mop can clean both carpets and hard flooring and is able to reach a large area using a 25-minute steam time and a five-metre-long power cord.

It also comes with two microfibre pads that can be interchanged and cleaning in the washing machine so you won’t have to purchase refills. This is much better for the environment and saves money in the long-run. Russell Hobbs claim that the Steam and Clean is able to kill 99.9 per cent of bacteria and germs, making it ideal to use around the home and especially in bathrooms and kitchens.

Pet owners and those with small children are among the many consumers that applaud the Steam and Clean for getting to work on stubborn stains, muddy floors and tricky to budge marks. One person said it is ‘great for the carpet if you have pets and kids’, while another person added a five star review calling it ‘the best thing I’ve ever bought off Amazon’.

The customer’s review reads: “Hardwood floors and various pets and it’s a nightmare keeping the dining room/kitchen/hall/bathroom clean but this just clears mess and stains up with literally no effort at all. It’s honestly staggering. Downstairs floor normally takes a good hour and a half to clean with a mop and with this thing I was done in 20 minutes.

“Couldn’t stop there, started hoovering and moving furniture in my bedroom and the lounge because I wanted to try it on carpets and it’s honestly amazing. There’s a patch of the carpet by the patio doors that has always been dirty-looking and matted down, and this thing took care of it in 5 minutes. As good as new. I’m not one to generally gush over items I buy on Amazon. I rarely leave a written review, but I can’t say enough good things about this.”

Someone else was over the moon with the results after using the Steam and Clean, writing: “Highly impressed with the cleaning quality of this steam mop. The cable is also long enough to make cleaning around the room easier. The house has a very fresh smell afterwards. It’s easy to get under the tables and the mop is light weight. It comes with two removable cloths that are easily washable.”

And another even compared it to a more expensive Vax steam mop. They wrote: “After initially buying an expensive Vax steam mop – which stopped working after a couple of uses – I bought this as a cheaper stop-gap alternative whilst the Vax was being returned and exchanged. However, after using this I can honestly say I won’t be going back to Vax. This model is so much easier to use: lightweight, stores neatly, simple and user friendly. I love it. Mopping doesn’t feel like a massive chore I have to work myself up for as it did with the fiddlier and heavier Vax model.”

However, this wasn’t the case for everyone and another was a bigger fan of the Vax steam mop writing: “Works okay but it’s not as good as the Vax version. The steam is intermittent, and when you pull back, the base lifts up. The pad is only secured with 3 small Velcro type attachments so the pad falls off easily. I wouldn’t recommend unfortunately.”

Others missed the ‘swivel head’ that the £99.99 Vax Steam Fresh offers, sharing that with the Russell Hobbs steam mop, it is ‘much harder to get into corners and tight areas’. For another steam mop that gives swivel options, consider the SharkKlik n’ Flip Automatic Steam Mop. It’s more expensive than Russell Hobbs, but it is currently on sale for £99.99, down from £139.99, so now is a smart time to pick it up if you want to save money off a pricier model.

Making the switch from a traditional mop and bucket might be off-putting for some, but customers confirm that the Russell Hobbs Steam and Clean is a great place to start if you’re thinking of buying a more expensive model later down the line.

Someone said: “I was apprehensive about buying a steam mop for years, I didn’t believe that they could be as good as a hot water type mop. Well I’ve been converted, I absolutely love this little mop, it’s doing a great job on my wooden living room floor. Tile, mosaic tiles and even brings my Scottish wool bedroom carpet up like new. I think this item is perfect for those who aren’t sure if they’ll prefer steam mopping over traditional mopping as you get to try it out for very little money, a good mop and bucket would cost as much.” Shoppers can pick up for the Russell Hobbs Steam and Clean from Amazon here.
