Sam Aston was announced as the winner of ITV’s Dancing on Ice tonight and left viewers furious, calling out the “sexist” voting system as a female fails to win the show after 11 years.

Tonight, Anton Ferdinand, Sam and Michaela Strachan all took to the ice for the final time in a bid to be crowned the winner and take home the trophy.

Ferdinand and his partner Annette Dytrt performed to Let’s Go Crazy by Prince and the Revolution, scoring a perfect 40 from the judges.

Aston and Lanaghan skated to the Pink Panther Theme by Henry Mancini and also scored the top mark of 40.

Strachan and Hanretty danced to Don’t Rain on my Parade by Barbara Streisand and once again received 40 marks from the judges.

For Ferdinand, his chance at lifting the trophy was taken from him as he finished third, but he admitted he had had the time of his life on the show.

For Aston and Strachan, they performed one final time and put their own take on Jane Torville and Christopher Dean’s iconic Balero performance.

The viewers were reminded of both performances from the pair and took to the voting system to crown Aston as the winner.

As Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern called out his name, the Chesney Brown star was left in disbelief, with Strachan and Hanretty congratulating the couple.

Whilst Aston was left in shock at his win, viewers of the show were not happy and claimed the show had been “fixed” again for a male to win the series.

The stars were left shocked with the outcome

One slammed: “Well, that’s the final nail in the coffin for #DancingOnIce, Michaela woz robbed, what a joke.”

What just happened?? #DancingonIce” another said before a third added: “Oh f**k off! How sexist is this damn show?! #DancingOnIce.”

A fourth angrily wrote: “Yes I would have liked to have seen a woman win because one hasn’t for many years, but Michaela did herself proud and was just awesome so well done to her too.”

Someone else quipped: “The male dominance continues!!!!!!”

A sixth unimpressed viewer expressed: “Okay, yeah, cancel the show. What a joke. Another male winner?

If this was going to be the last series we deserved and female winner and for Mark to get his win.” (sic)

The viewer outrage comes as the last female winner was back in 2013 when Beth Tweddle won alongside her partner Daniel Whiston.

Previous to Tweddle’s win, Gaynor Faye won in 2006, Suzanne Shaw in 2008, and Hayley Tamaddon in 2010.
