It’s just like old times with the Toronto Sceptres and those Soupy chants that have become synonymous with the Sceptres winning games.

Only this time, not even Kristen “Soupy” Campbell’s heroics could save the Sceptres, who fell 2-1 to the Minnesota Frost in overtime.

Kendall Coyne-Schofield got the game winner with 2:21 into the overtime period on a scramble in front of Campbell, who had already made three game-saving saves in overtime alone.

If there is a positive to take from Sunday’s loss it is that Campbell is right back to that form that helped Toronto win 11 in a row in its first year as she kept Toronto in a game they easily could have lost in a lethargic first period allowing them to earn a point after coming back to force overtime.

Campbell turned aside 24 of 26 shots and looked extremely sharp in doing so.

Minnesota got on the board first as Toronto repeatedly failed to clear the zone with numerous chances before finally paying the price with Brooke McQuigge beating Campbell through a slew of bodies from the high slot.

Campbell though, while not tested, often turned away quality chance after quality chance as the Frost attempted to put this one away early, only to be denied.

It was the sixth start in seven games for Campbell, who struggled earlier in the season, opening the door for rookie Raygan Kirk before getting back in the net and re-establishing her No. 1 spot in the goaltending pecking order.

With the point, the Sceptres move temporarily into second place, a point up on Boston who have a game in hand.

Toronto’s lone game in the game came off the stick of Renata Fast who scored on a nice feed from Daryl Watts.
