Determining whether a spouse is cheating doesn’t have to be a full-time job. Rather, the job itself might offer clues about a partner being unfaithful.
A divorce lawyer with 15 years of experience has revealed the professions of people she believes are most likely to be unfaithful.
Kate Simonds, 39, put the spotlight on police officers, firefighters and people in the military as being “more likely to cheat” because of their “ego” and because they’re around people so often, the New York Post reported.
On the flipside, the attorney also revealed those most likely to remain faithful to their partner, highlighting accountants and farmers due to their personality types and more isolated career choices.
“Infidelity is the worst thing that can happen to a marriage,” the Arizona-based lawyer said, per the Post.
“In my opinion, people don’t get divorced because of the cheating, but all the problems around infidelity and the issues it brings,” she added.
“I have been working as a divorce attorney for 15 years; my opinion was formed by the people we see. We are in Phoenix, and we have a very large cross-section.

“The professions I am talking about come from the number of people in those professions we’ve seen.”
The attorney said she believes the most likely to cheat on their partners are public service workers, including cops, firefighters and military personnel.
“Woman are attracted to the uniform,” she said, adding these workers are often regularly away from home.
“Cops and firefighters are the most likely to cheat, and that is pretty well settled,” she said.
“Everyone knows what is going on in the cop shop. They are in contact with other people a lot of the time, and they have a stereotypical personality type,” she added. “You need a big ego to be able to do that job, and women are attracted to the uniform – it is the perfect storm.”
Occupations where people are more likely to stay faithful include farmers, accountants and pharmacists, as accountants are generally more reserved, she said, while farmers are loyal and “nobody ever divorces a pharmacist.”
As for the reasons someone might cheat: “My strong opinion is that cheating has more to do with the person who is cheating than the person who has been cheated on.
“Cheating stems from their unhappiness,” she said.
