A drink that can cost less than 2p per cup may help you quit vaping or smoking. Millions of people in the UK now vape, in what has been dubbed a “vaping epidemic”.

The NHS has said inhaling nicotine vapour from e-cigarettes is “substantially less harmful than smoking.” But Dr Maxime Boidin, leader of the world’s first controlled study into vaping’s long-term effects at Manchester Metropolitan University believes the health threat to vapers is even worse.

While the full impacts of vaping are not yet fully known, it’s clear that the habit cannot be deemed safe. However, it is also extremely difficult to quit vaping, due to the addictive qualities of nicotine, among other reasons.

Thankfully, there are some helpful actions you can take – and one of these involves consuming an affordable beverage. Green tea, which can be bought for 59p for a packet of 40 teabags, or less than 2p per bag, floods the system with micronutrients and amino acids, helping to reduce the urge to vape.

Research suggests it also helps to repair tissues damaged by smoking, helping to heal the whole body in the long run. Herbal teas can also provide a nicotine-like stimulant effect, presenting individuals with a satisfying replacement for the habitual act of vaping or smoking, as reported by the Liverpool ECHO.

Notably, research suggests that ginseng, found in certain herbal teas, may possess therapeutic properties for nicotine addiction by weakening the impact of dopamine, a pleasure-associated neurotransmitter released during smoking.

Meditation and breathwork, both of which can be done at home, for free, can also help, as well as exercising more, and creating a reward system for all the days you have not vaped or smoked.
