So her family plays matchmaker, especially as her sister’s wedding is soon approaching — it doesn’t help that her ex returns to the picture (Hero Fiennes Tiffin), making her life more chaotic.
Why watch:Bridgerton fans, your on-screen leading lady is starring as the lead in this rom-com.

Film: Anora
Air date: March 18
Synopsis:Anora, a sex worker from Brooklyn, gets her chance at a Cinderella story when she meets and marries the son of a Russian oligarch. However, once the news reaches Russia, her fairytale life is threatened as his parents try to get the marriage annulled.
Why watch:
The film won Best Picture at the Oscars and Critics Choice Awards earlier this year. It was also on our list of the best films of 2024 and perhaps one of director Sean Baker’s best to date. The film is edgy, fierce and compelling — an emotional rollercoaster filled with twists and turns, seamlessly moving from comedy and romance to tragedy. Baker has always had an eye for talent and fills his cast with actors who seamlessly carry the film through — Mikey Madison gives one of this year’s breakout performances. The film also won Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actress (Mikey Madison) at the Oscars.

Film: Wicked
Air date: March 21
Synopsis: Misunderstood because of her green skin and bullied her whole childhood, a young woman named Elphaba learns to forge her path and attend Shiz University in the Land of Oz. She starts an unlikely but profound friendship with fellow student Glinda. After an encounter with the Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroad as their lives begin to take very different paths.
Why watch:
This was one of the biggest box office films and a cultural phenomenon of 2024. From Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s on and off-screen friendship to their Oscar performance earlier this week, there’s no reason to skip out on this musical hit.

Film: Sing Sing
Air date: Jan. 31
Synopsis: The film is based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through Arts program founded at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. It follows a group of incarcerated actors who work on a play as part of a theatre workshop at the prison.
Why watch:
Colman Domingo plays Divine G, alongside a cast who were mostly alumni of the RTA program. Sing Sing, based on the book The Sing Sing Follies by John H. Richardson, serves as an authentic portrait of incarcerated men who use the transformative power of art to process their own trauma. The film helps unpack everyone’s unconscious bias against those human beings and these institutions. Both Domingo and the film have earned Best Actor and Best Picture nominations respectively at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. It was also on our list of the best films of 2024.

Film: Holland
Air date: March 27
Synopsis: Nicole Kidman stars as teacher and homemaker Nancy Vandergroot, who has cemented the status of perfection as both a wife to husband Fred (Matthew Macfadyen) and mother to her son Harry (Jude Hill) in Holland, Michigan. Their perfect life crumbles as a twisted tale unfolds when Nancy and her colleague Dave (Gael García Bernal) learn of a secret that threatens to disrupt their lives.
Why watch:
If the recent films on Nicole Kidman’s resume are of any indication, then this is next on our list, especially if it’s being billed as “a wildly unpredictable thriller.” And if you’ve seen Mimi Cave’s directorial debut Fresh, then you know she has something fun and wicked up her sleeves.

What’s on Apple TV+

Series: The Studio

With the movie business struggling, Matt and his team have to also tend to narcissistic artists and corporations in the pursuit of making great movies. It also stars Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders.
Why watch:
The comedy is an entertaining peek behind the scenes as studio executives fight to make movies. With Seth Rogen leading the charge, you know this will be one hell of a watch.

What’s new on Disney+

‘Daredevil: Born Again.’
‘Daredevil: Born Again.’

If you don’t have a Disney+ subscription yet, go to Disneyplus.com and sign up.

Series:Daredevil: Born Again
Air date: March 4
Synopsis: The series takes a look at the lives of two main characters who are bound to meet: Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), who continues to fight for justice as a lawyer through his law firm, and former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), who carves out his own political ambitions in New York.
Why watch:
If the previous Netflix series was any indication, it’s that audiences love the Daredevil storyline and whether you only watched the 2003 Ben Affleck movie or the discontinued series that ran from 2015-2018, Marvel promises this gets darker and satisfies fans. As someone who loved the series, I bet a darker, more grounded series is just what we need to binge right now — especially if Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio continue to bring their wicked banter from the previous entries.

Series: Deli Boys
Air date: March 6
Synopsis: When their father suddenly dies, the once-spoiled Pakistani American brothers realize their cushy life comes crashing down, and are forced to come to terms with their father’s secret life of crime. It’s up to them to continue his legacy in the work of underworld crime.
Why watch:
This South Asian comedy has lined up a pretty neat premise that promises to be quite the wild ride.
