The victim of Mike Amesbury’s “sucker-punch” has finally broken his silence after the Labour MP swerved prison for attacking one of his own constituents.
Paul Fellows, 45, has said that the politician could have killed him and raised questions as to why he had not lost his seat after Amesbury had his 10-week jail sentence suspended.
The MP for Runcorn and Helsby was also ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work, complete an anger management course, undertake an 12-month alcohol monitoring period and conduct 20 days of rehabilitation work.
Although he was originally ordered to spend 10 weeks behind bars, he managed to dodge spending longer than three days in prison after winning his appeal.

“He could have killed me and deserves to be in prison,” Fellows told the Daily Mail.
“He should never have been let out so early.
“I was standing on the pavement with my hands in my pockets when he punched me in the face. I could easily have hit the back of my head as I fell into the road.
“The intent was there. If you punch someone you have to accept the consequences – that you might kill them.”

He also told The Sun: “If I got jailed I’d be sacked so why should it be different for anyone else? Once you’re convicted, you should just lose your job.”
Last week, Reform UK launched its campaign to contest a by-election in Runcorn and Helsby after Amesbury was given his jail sentence.
Images previously shared with GB News from the centre of the Labour safe seat showed a van with large screens on the side showing Amesbury standing in front of a police line-up wall, holding a placard reading: “Sign the petition.”
Further footage of the screens revealed the messages: “Runcorn’s Labour MP punched a constituent”, “He’s going to jail”, and “Runcorn needs Reform UK”.

So far, the petition has attracted the support of more than 24,000 individuals.
Earlier this year, the MP pleaded guilty to assaulting his constituent after a fight in a street in Cheshire on October 26.
A video which was shown in court revealed Amesbury punching Fellows in his head, causing him to fall to the ground, and then subsequently punching him five times – at least.
The footage captured the MP’s next words: “You won’t threaten your MP again will you, you f*****g soft lad?”
Last July, Amesbury won his constituency seat with a 14,696 majority with Reform UK in second place.
