Fans of Connor McDavid and Big Macs must be lovin’ it.
McDonald’s Canada is celebrating Team Canada’s thrilling overtime victory at the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off tournament by temporarily rebranding restaurant locations in Newmarket and Edmonton as McDavid’s.
The revamp is in honour of the Oilers superstar’s game-winning goal against the U.S. on Feb. 20, giving Canada a 3-2 victory in the international tournament final.
“McDavid’s is real, it exists, and yeah, u (sic) should be here,” the eatery’s social media team wrote alongside an Instagram reel on Friday unveiling the name change.
McDavid grew up in Newmarket and has played in Edmonton for his entire NHL career.
The fast food chain also shared the news of the revamp on X, formally known as Twitter, with photos of both locations bearing the new signage.
“Pardon our language but … puck yeah,” the restaurant captioned the images.
For those eager to see the name change in person, the rebranded restaurants are located at 1100 Davis Dr. in Newmarket and 10375 51st Ave. in Edmonton.

There was an inkling of the name switch just days after Team Canada’s victory.
“Still can’t stop thinking about that shot @cmcdavid97,” the restaurant shared in a Feb. 23 message on X, tagging a repost from last June which promised to change an Edmonton McDonald’s eatery into a McDavid’s if he brought a cup back to Canada.
“Golden goal (handshake emoji) golden arches. See you all at McDavid’s in Edmonton and in Newmarket in honour of our hometown hero.”
The restaurant confirmed in an Instagram reply that the rebrand is temporary and will only last for a week.
“Such an epic way to celebrate the golden goal,” one Instagram follower wrote.
Other’s commented that the change should be made permanently.
“This would honestly hold such a great story behind it if this was a permanent change,” one person wrote. “Like a secret for people to discover years from now. I think about the famous Porto (Portugal) McDonald’s and how people make a point of stopping in to experience it.”
In January, McDonald’s launched an ad campaign that featured McDavid and Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews, who suited up for the U.S., ahead of the tournament.
McDavid is arguably the best player in the NHL. He has 22 goals and 52 assists for 74 points in 53 games this season entering Saturday’s NHL action.
Over his career in Edmonton, the Oilers captain has 357 goals and 699 assists for 1,056 points in 698 games.
