Instonians continue their quest for an immediate return to the EYHL as they take on Cork Harlequins at Shaw’s Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Belfast side have ground to make up in the group, currently occupying bottom spot but having played the fewest games of any side in Pool B.
In their only game to date, the Premier League outfit were beaten 3-1 by group leaders Portrane, but have hit a fine run of League form since.
Having won each of their last five games in the division, they have climbed as high as second place and come into the weekend having sealed a comfortable 3-1 win over South Antrim with goals from Matthew McCord, Ross Kelly and David Arneill.
Saturday’s opponents come into the tie having picked up one win and a loss from their two EYHL2 games so far and occupy second in the group.
Elsewhere in the EYHL2, Cookstown travel down south to face Cork Church of Ireland as they look to continue their perfect start to the competition.
The mid-Ulster side have won both of their opening two games in the group stage including the 12-0 thumping of Kilkenny in their last outing.
Hopeful of maintaining their faultless record, they come into the tie off the back of a 7-5 victory over Bangor last weekend — a result which has them on track to defend their title as Premier League champions.
They now face a Cork side who are second in the group having won one and drawn one of their opening two games.
In the Men’s Premier League, Bangor host North Down in the penultimate game before the Anderson Cup Final.
The two sides last met in October when it was North Down who came out on top with a 5-2 win and goals from Harry Templeton (2), Gareth McKeown, Josh Gilmore and Philip Wilson.
However, they will now be without top scorer McKeown who misses the game through injury and has scored eight goals for the side this season.
Instead, they will have to stop the division’s top goalscorer Ryan Burgess who has scored 13 goals this campaign as his side have surged up the table since the reverse fixture.
At Newforge, PSNI host Belfast Harlequins with the side hoping to end a run of nine games without a win in the division.
The home side come into the tie having lost their last four games in League action, most last picking up a point in a 0-0 draw with South Antrim in January.
However, they come into the tie with reason for optimism, having sealed a late draw away to Saturday’s opponents in the reverse fixture.
Meanwhile, Belfast Harlequins come into the game sixth in the division but with at least one game in hand on each of the teams above them.
Paddy Jack’s side are unbeaten in their last three outings, picking up five points and most recently beating North Down 4-3 with goals from Aaron Murphy, Cameron Ruttle, Peter Bailey and Matthew Gray.
