Two youths aged 15 and 17 have been charged with attempted murder after a firearm was discharged during an alleged robbery in Vaughan.
York Regional Police said the victim met with the suspect on Jan. 18 at midnight at Teston Rd. and Jane St. to sell him a phone.
Police alleged that the suspect stole the phone and fled on foot.
Cops said the victim attempted to follow, at which point the suspect allegedly discharged a firearm in the victim’s direction. The victim wasn’t physically injured.
Police alleged that the suspect then carjacked a Honda CR-V that was idling in a driveway, threatening the owner with the firearm, and as the suspect attempted to flee in the vehicle, he lost control, crashed and fled on foot.
Police identified two suspects and with help from the Niagara Regional Police Service, three search warrants were executed at residences in Niagara Falls, Fort Erie and Toronto and a fourth warrant was executed on a vehicle.
The 15-year-old, of no fixed address, is facing seven charges including two counts of fail to comply with release order and breach of YCJA probation.
A 17-year-old male, of no fixed address, faces seven charges including fail to comply with release order and breach of YCJA probation.
Police said both youths were on probation and on release orders for unrelated charges at the time of the incident.
An adult male has also been charged for failing to comply with his weapons prohibition after ammunition was located in his residence during one of the search warrant executions.
