Britain’s socialist Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, threw Canada royally under U.S. President Donald Trump’s annexation bus this week.
Trump and Starmer, gushed over one another at a White House meet and greet. At one point, Starmer presented a personal invitation from King Charles for Trump — a huge fan of the royal family — to visit the U.K.
Later at a news conference, a reporter asked if Starmer had raised the issue of Trump threatening to annex Canada as the 51st state.
“I think you’re trying to find a divide between us that doesn’t exist,” Starmer responded.
So, as far as Britain is concerned, Canada doesn’t exist. Yet we share a head of state — King Charles III.
The British may claim to have a “special relationship” with the U.S. In fact, Canada has been at its side for ever. This country leaped to the defence of Britain in two world wars.

Hundreds of Canadian pilots took to the skies during the Battle of Britain. This country sent millions of tonnes of food to Britain during the war and more than 1,000 Canadian seamen died in the North Atlantic convoys.
For what? To have a mealy-mouthed politician dismiss us as not existing?
Canada is a senior member of the Commonwealth and we have stuck by Britain through thick and thin.
The back story to this could be the relationship between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the U.K. government. Has this government invited Charles to visit? If not, why not?
Countries need alliances. Trudeau has isolated us, with his prissy lectures to friendly countries about how they should govern.
Like Canada, Britain is a constitutional monarchy. The government tells the Crown what to do, not the other way around. This is on Starmer.
The soft power of the monarchy is immense. It’s time our federal government – wherever it is – had a chat with King Charles on how we could use his help right now.
Starmer looks like the goofy kid at school who kisses up to the bully so he can be part of the cool gang.
He should be ashamed. He’s sold out Canada.
