Usually, it’s the Super Bowl champions that get invited to the White House, not one of the runners up.
But only weeks after his Chiefs suffered a blowout loss in the big game at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City kicker Harrison Butker visited 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump himself.
Butker, an outspoken Republican, was pictured speaking with Trump on Thursday in the Oval Office.
Margo Martin, a special assistant to the President and communications advisor at the White House, shared a picture of the Chiefs kicker and the Commander in Chief talking while Trump was seated at his desk.
“The GOAT of kicking @buttkicker7 meets the GOAT of Presidents @realDonaldTrump,” Martin captioned the photo, which has racked up more than 2 million views in just over a day.
Butker also took time to pose for a photo with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt during his visit.
“Harrison Butker stopped by the White House today and the President couldn’t have been happier to say hello,” a White House official told Fox News.
The eight-year NFL veteran endorsed Trump for president during his 2024 election campaign, calling the Republican candidate the “most pro-life president” during an appearance on Fox News.
“I’m supporting the president that’s going to be the most pro-life president, and I think Donald Trump is the most pro-life president,” Butker said in October 2024. “That’s a topic that is the most crucial topic for me. I want us to be fighting for the most vulnerable, fighting for the unborn, and that’s what we should prioritize.”
As a three-time Super Bowl champion, this wasn’t Butker’s first visit to the White House.
During the team’s Super Bowl title visit in 2023, when Joe Biden was in office, Butker wore a tie that had “Vulnerari Praesidio” – a Latin term that translates to “Protect the most vulnerable.” He also wore a gold pin representing the size of a 10-week-old baby’s feet.
Butker also stirred up controversy while making a commencement speech at Benedictine College last year. In the speech, the kicker congratulated the women receiving degrees but said most were probably more excited to get married and have children.
“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you,” Butker said. “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
Earlier this week, a report circulated that the Eagles would turn down the customary invite to the White House – as the team did after winning the NFL championship in 2018.
That report was later shot down.
And while an official invite has yet to be extended to the team, Trump has said that it would be shortly.
