Motorists are being warned of new driving law changes being introduced in the coming weeks which could impact millions of Britons.
Drivers will see an abundance of new cars on forecourts with new number plates, new fuel rates for petrol and diesel car owners, while Chancellor Rachel Reeves could implement more rules at the end of the month.
With the new rules being introduced over the next few weeks, GB News has rounded up the most important driving law changes in March 2025 that could impact you.

Number plate changes
March 1 will be the first of two major number plate changes launching in 2025, with drivers seeing the latest models hit forecourts featuring the new “25” identifier.
The new “25” number plate tag should come alongside a huge boost in vehicle sales as motorists look to get their hands on the latest models, especially before hefty car tax changes in April.
Another number plate change will be launched in September with the new “75” tag, in keeping with the registration plate tradition that has been in place since 2001.

Fuel rates
The start of the month will also see new Advisory Fuel Rates introduced where employees can be reimbursed for business travel in their company cars or if employees need to pay for the cost of fuel for private travel.
The HMRC rates are changed four times per year, with the next change expected on June 1. Only a handful of price hikes have been unveiled for the upcoming regime.
The rate for petrol engines between 1,401cc and 2,000cc will rise from 14p to 15p, while diesel vehicles with engines smaller than 1,600cc will see prices hiked from 11p to 12p.

Following a consultation in January, the Government has confirmed that it will extend the Ukraine driving licence exemption to help those fleeing the Russian invasion.
Ukrainian nationals living in Ukraine on a visa scheme who hold a non-GB licence can continue to drive in Great Britain for up to four years and six months (54 months).
Future of Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood said the changes were being made to support Ukrainians who continue to adjust to life in Great Britain as the war in Ukraine enters its fourth year.
The AI speed cameras trials will end in March

Speed cameras equipped with artificial intelligence have been trialled around the UK for the last year and have the ability to detect motorists who are not wearing a seatbelt or are using their mobile phone at the wheel.
The latest trial was launched on February 19 last year and will run until March 2025. There are hopes that the scheme will be rolled out nationwide to crack down on dangerous drivers.
Police forces in Durham, Greater Manchester, Humberside, Staffordshire, West Mercia, Northamptonshire, Wiltshire, Norfolk, Thames Valley and Sussex are taking part in the trial.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves will deliver the Spring Statement on March 26

Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced that the Government’s Spring Forecast would take place on March 26, 2025, with drivers hoping that Labour will introduce measures to make life more comfortable behind the wheel.
The Autumn Statement last October hinted that changes could be made to the Expensive Car Supplement to make it easier for motorists to buy electric vehicles.
Other potential changes include last-minute car tax changes, motor insurance relief, additional funding for electric vehicles or new details about the Zero Emission Vehicle mandate.
