A 92-year old woman claims she feels a staggering 40 years younger, crediting her remarkable zest for life to her fitness regime and her daughter’s guidance as her personal trainer. Edna Giordano, mother to five, grandmother of 21, and great-grandmother to four, hits her local gym four times every week, managing squats and stairs without issue.
Dalyce Radtke, her daughter and also a mum-of-five, ensures Edna’s workouts keep her youthful and dynamic. On an episode of Good Morning America last year, Edna exclaimed: “I don’t even think about being 91. I feel the same as I felt when I was 50. I’ve always had a busy lifestyle because, let’s face it, with that many children, you have to be busy. So, I never really thought about it, that’s just the way I live. My body feels better when I’m moving.”
Edna revealed that she didn’t start working out until the age of 65, after retiring from her job in a hospital. Now, 27 years later, she uses social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram alongside her daughter to showcase their workout routines and offer guidance to others.
In one of their recent Instagram updates, Edna and Dalyce showcased their impressive physiques through a series of stretches and strength exercises. The 60-year old Dalyce captioned the post: “My 92-year old mom and me doing a mobility workout. You might not be able to do these exercises at the same level, but with even a small effort, you’ll feel better than you do today.”
She continued: “By the way my mom started her fitness routine at the age of 65. What’s her secret? Consistency. Save this. Try it. Share it.”
Edna, meanwhile, recently opened up about her body during a TikTok Q&A, stating: “My body tells me I’m not happy when I’m just sitting down. I spend a lot of time painting, working in the garden or taking my dog for a walk. If I sit down to watch the TV even for 10 minutes, I jump up to do something around the house and feel better.”
She further noted: “Going to the gym on a regular basis in the morning really helps me mentally. I obviously don’t want to go, but after I’ve done it, I feel so much better. When I come home, my mind is more active and my day goes on from there. I sleep really well, I don’t have any problems and my posture is really good for my age – I love dead hanging from a bar for that, it really stretches you out.”
Commenting on their Instagram video, one admirer exclaimed: “Your mom’s posture is phenomenal! Not one bit of rounded shoulders or head jutting forward. That is THE most aging thing and I am terrified of it. I am literally taking all the steps and doing all the moves to help prevent it. Is there any more advice you can give me? I am obsessed with a youthful posture.”
Another was inspired, exclaiming: “Love this! I just started my fitness journey at 67. I have a long way to go, but I feel so much better! It’s encouraging to see your mom.” Whilst a third shared that sentiment, penning: “Thank you for featuring your mother in your reels. She’s a huge inspiration for many.”
