Good Morning Britain fans were on the brink of changing channels last Thursday (February 27), all voicing the same grievance over a frankly “bonkers” segment in the programme. Presenters Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley served up the day’s big stories to GMB watchers.

Entertainment guru Richard Arnold was on-hand with his section, tantalising viewers with a teaser about his encounter with a “special guest”. Surprisingly, he began interviewing none other than Peppa Pig’s Mummy Pig live from Peppatown, dropping a bombshell revelation that she was expecting again.

Peppa even chimed in briefly during the exchange. “I’d like to welcome in her first ever interview someone we’re all very excited to meet. It’s Mummy Pig!” introduced Richard.

“Gosh, hello, thank you for having me. I’ve never been on telly before,” responded Mummy Pig. Richard heightened the anticipation, stating: “We’ve been abuzz in the studio all morning because we hear you have an exciting announcement,” paving the way for Mummy Pig to disclose: “That’s right, I do! So, I’m very excited to tell you all that I…” Yet before she could round off, Peppa burst in, beyond thrilled to glimpse her mum on screen.

After Peppa’s prompt departure, Mummy Pig finally unveiled: “Well, I’m excited to share that our family is getting even bigger because we’re having another baby! I’m due in the summer and we’re all so excited”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Mummy Pig confessed she was both ecstatic and “a little overwhelmed” by the notion of her brood expanding to three kids under the age of five.

Mummy Pig shared: “We weren’t able to keep it a secret for long. Peppa knew something was going on, she’s such a curious thing. We had to tell her before she popped. We’ve had the occasional wobble and worry, but they’re mostly so excited. Everyday they ask me how big the baby is, when is it coming, does it like dinosaurs or muddy puddles – it never stops!”

Wrapping up the conversation, Richard concluded: “Aw congratulations once again from all of us at Good Morning Britain, we’re so excited to meet the new little baby pig and see how Peppa and George get along.”

However, viewers were left perplexed by the pre-arranged interview, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to express their confusion and frustration. “Turning off… this programme is becoming a joke,” one person wrote, while another added: “What’s the point of this cringeworthy Peppa pig interview?

“Am I tripping? Why are they interviewing Peppa Pig?” a third person asked, with a fourth sharing: “This segment is bonkers.”

Another viewer echoed the sentiment: “Did I really just see Mummy Pig get interviewed about her pregnancy on #GMB or have I really lost it?”
