Carol Kirkwood was left stunned after a playful jibe from her BBC Breakfast colleague Naga Munchetty while she was presenting the weather forecasts.

Viewers of Thursday’s (27 February) show witnessed an amusing exchange between the pair, with Carol returning to the studio after delivering the morning’s first weather update.

Suggesting viewers stay tuned for the weather, Naga quipped: “Or we could listen to you in half an hour, that’ll make a change!” Carol, feigning surprise, replied to her co-presenter: “Naga, the things you say to me. I’m shocked!”.

The banter continued as Naga retorted with a laugh: “You love it. See you later,” with both ladies sharing a light-hearted moment before moving on with the programme.

During Thursday’s BBC Breakfast, Charlie and Naga also spoke to Technology Secretary Peter Kyle about proposed amendments to copyright law and Sir Jon Cunliffe regarding his commission tasked with reforming the water industry in England and Wales, reports the Express.

They touched base with Paul Woodhouse of the British Dental Association about adjustments to dental care access and discussed Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s impending trip to the US to discuss the issue with President Donald Trump.

This exchange between Naga and Carol follows a recent incident where the weather presenter had to apologise for a significant error she made live on-air the previous Tuesday (18 February).

There was a moment of on-air surprise when Carol Kirkwood, after giving the weather update, mistakenly addressed Sarah Campbell as ‘Sal,’ saying: “It’s Thursday that we’ll all be in that milder air, Jon and Sal.”

Realising her error, she gasped with embarrassment and quickly corrected herself, “Sarah! Sorry.”

Co-presenters Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell saw the funny side, with Sarah jokingly commenting: “I didn’t hear what she said!” and Jon playfully adding: “Shh, don’t tell her, don’t tell her.”

The moment came as Sarah filled in for Sally Nugent, Jon’s usual Monday co-host.

BBC Breakfast airs at 6am on weekdays on BBC One
