Taylor Swift has generated a staggering economic impact of nearly $1billion (£760million) for the NFL since she began dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

Data obtained by MarketWatch reveals the pop superstar has created $992,361,912 in equivalent brand value for the American football league in less than two years.

This remarkable financial boost began after Swift made her first public appearance at a Chiefs game on 24 September 2023.

The 14-time Grammy winner’s influence has transformed the NFL’s economic landscape through increased viewership and media attention.

Swift’s relationship with Kelce has attracted new audiences to the sport, particularly among demographics not traditionally associated with American football.

The financial impact of Swift’s presence can be broken down into two significant periods.

From September 2023 through the AFC Championship game on 28 January 2024, she generated $366,753,290 in total equivalent brand value.

This impressive figure was just the beginning of her economic influence on the league.

Swift then brought an additional $634,304,163 through 27 January 2025, the day after this year’s AFC title game.

The combined total represents an unprecedented boost to the NFL’s brand value in such a short timeframe.

The league has experienced a notable spike in viewership since Swift and Kelce made their romance public.

This viewership increase has translated directly into substantial financial gains for the NFL.

According to Apex Marketing president Eric Smallwood, social media and digital news have been key factors in Swift’s impact on the league.

‘The ‘Swift effect’ and the corresponding media exposure continued for the NFL and the Chiefs before the start of the 2024 NFL season,’ he said.

Smallwood noted that ‘Taylor was visible at games, and those appearances garnered media attention from sports-media outlets and those entertainment media outlets not normally covering the NFL.’

Ian Trombetta, the NFL’s senior vice president for social, influencer, and content marketing, confirmed the league’s social media consumption experienced a significant spike among women aged 13 to 24.
